S-Game has released the first post-launch update for Phantom Blade Zero, with the patch now available on PlayStation 5 and PC. The update follows the game’s day-one patch and focuses on combat behavior, technical performance, accessibility options and several issues that could affect progression.

The version number depends on the platform. PlayStation 5 players will see the update listed as 1.302.289, while the PC version appears as 1.0302256. The patch is already live, but the published notes do not provide a separate Philippine release schedule or a local download time.

Hua’s grab attacks are less frequent on two difficulties

One of the most visible combat changes concerns Hua, Deadly Betrothed. S-Game has reduced how often the boss uses grab attacks on the Wayfarer and Pathbreaker difficulty settings. The change does not apply to the other difficulty options, so it is a targeted adjustment rather than a global reduction to the encounter’s difficulty.

“Reduced the frequency of grab attacks used by Hua, Deadly Betrothed on Wayfarer and Pathbreaker difficulties. Other difficulty settings are unaffected.” — S-Game’s patch notes

The update also changes the combat behavior of certain other bosses and enemies. Weapon hit feedback has been improved, selected sound effects and dialogue have had their volume adjusted, and descriptions for some weapons and skills have been revised. Controller button icons have also been updated. These changes are accompanied by adjustments to some environmental mechanisms and fixes for several combat-related issues.

New audio and control options

Players can now find two additional options in the audio settings: Hit Sound Intensity and Hit Impact Sound Intensity. On PC, the patch adds remapping support for the Interact / Talk action for both keyboard and controller. That gives PC players an additional way to configure the input used for those actions, while the update’s other control-related changes include refreshed controller button icons.

PC changes address startup, stuttering and ray tracing

The PC release receives several technical changes. S-Game has updated the shader compilation process to reduce startup times, and ray-tracing shaders will no longer compile automatically at launch. Players who had ray tracing disabled must complete a one-time shader recompilation on their first launch after installing the update. Those who had ray tracing enabled can start playing without that recompilation; if ray tracing is later enabled in the settings, the required shaders will compile after the next restart.

The patch also targets stuttering when a controller is connected through Bluetooth. In addition, NVIDIA Reflex now works when set to “Auto” while V-Sync is enabled. S-Game has separately listed performance improvements in certain areas, although the notes do not identify those areas or provide performance figures.

Progression and visual fixes

Beyond the combat and performance work, the update fixes issues that could prevent progression under certain conditions. It also addresses environmental problems that could leave the player character stuck, along with various cutscene, visual and combat issues. Character hair rendering has been corrected in certain situations.

  • New intensity controls for hit and impact sounds
  • Reduced Hua grab frequency on Wayfarer and Pathbreaker
  • PC support for remapping Interact / Talk
  • Shader, Bluetooth controller and NVIDIA Reflex fixes on PC
  • Progression, environmental, cutscene and visual bug fixes

For players in the Philippines using either supported platform, the practical difference is that the same update is identified by different version numbers on PlayStation 5 and PC. The published notes confirm that the patch is live on both platforms, while the platform-specific PC changes apply only to the Windows version.
