Selangor Red Giants have won their sixth consecutive Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia championship after defeating Team Rey 4-3 in the Season 18 Grand Finals at Stadium Juara in Kuala Lumpur.

The result completed a seven-game final, the first time the MPL Malaysia championship series has gone the distance since Season 12. Team Rey, which exited early in the Season 17 Playoffs, produced a deep playoff run before pushing the defending champions through the full series.

Both finalists qualify for the M8 World Championship

The Grand Finals result gives both Selangor Red Giants and Team Rey Malaysia’s Golden Tickets to the M8 World Championship Main Stage. The qualification places the two teams in the international tournament in Istanbul, Turkiye, where the M Series will make its first appearance on European soil.

The M8 World Championship will be staged across two continents. Its Wild Card stage will begin in Bangkok, Thailand, before the Main Stage moves to Istanbul. A total of 16 teams will compete for the world championship and a share of the published US$1 million prize pool.

Selangor Red Giants target another international title

Selangor Red Giants head coach Michael “Arcadia” Bocado described the seven-game final as a test of the team’s character. He also pointed to the organization’s third-place finish at the M7 World Championship and said the squad’s ambition for M8 is to go further.

The team’s previous international benchmark is its MSC victory in 2024. That title remains the standard Selangor Red Giants are aiming to match on the global stage, while the sixth straight Malaysian championship gives the roster another regional title before its M8 campaign.

More regions complete their M8 qualification

Other regional qualification events also concluded over the same weekend. In Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Team Spirit swept Aurevia Team 4-0 to claim its eighth MLBB Continental Championships title. The result puts Team Spirit on a potential Golden Road run, although no team has completed that achievement.

In East Asia, The MongolZ defeated DianFengYaoGuai 5-3 in the MLBB Championship Tour East Asia Grand Finals. The Mongolian team overcame a significant in-game disadvantage to secure its own Golden Ticket to the M8 World Championship Main Stage.
