Mega Crit will showcase the next major beta patch for Slay the Spire 2 on 12 November 2026, with a new game mode planned for both single-player and multiplayer sessions. The developer has not yet announced the mode’s name, rules, or the amount of content it will contain.
The update is intended for the game’s beta branch first. For players in the Philippines and Southeast Asia using Steam, that means the experimental mode will be separate from the standard version at its initial release. Mega Crit said the new material is being developed alongside the balance and bug-fixing work already used to support the current beta build.
What the beta patch will include
The new mode is the central feature that Mega Crit has confirmed for the 12 November showcase. It will support solo play as well as multiplayer, expanding the options available in a game that already added cooperative play for up to four players after its Early Access launch last March.
- The major beta patch is scheduled for 12 November 2026.
- The unrevealed mode will support single-player and multiplayer.
- The new content will arrive on the beta branch before the main branch receives the current beta update.
- Mega Crit has not disclosed the mode’s detailed rules, type, or quantity of content.
“public-beta” — Mega Crit’s Steam branch label
Players who want to access the experimental branch can select “public-beta” in Slay the Spire 2’s properties on Steam. The branch is intended for testing content before it is moved into the game’s regular version, so the beta and main branch will not initially contain the same features.
What reaches the main branch
Mega Crit plans to bring the content, balance changes, and bug fixes already present in the current beta version v0.111.0 to the main branch. That update was released in August and included reworked cards, balance and performance adjustments, and low-health idle animations for characters.
The developer said it has focused on major content development since August. In its September developer update, Mega Crit discussed internal testing of new features and modes without giving a release date. The timing was later set in the studio’s October newsletter, published on 29 October.
Mega Crit also explained that adding a major feature to the beta requires work across design, user experience, art and animation, and balancing. That development schedule has made it difficult to handle major content work at the same time as routine balance changes and bug fixes. The upcoming beta patch therefore gives Steam players an early look at the new mode, while the existing beta improvements remain on track for the main version.
