Midwest 90: Rapid City, a tycoon survival game from Malaysian indie developer Hidden Chest Studios, will launch in Steam Early Access on 10 November 2026. The game is published by Thailand-based Rising Tide and will also be part of Unity’s Indie Showcase at G-STAR 2026 in Busan, South Korea.

The Early Access release will give PC players access to a management game set during a monster apocalypse. Players operate a roadside diner in a world where the creatures outside are both a danger and part of the business. The central tension comes from deciding how to run the establishment while weighing financial gains against the survival of the surrounding city.

A diner at the center of a monster crisis

Rather than presenting the apocalypse only as a battle for survival, Midwest 90: Rapid City places the diner at the heart of its systems. The Early Access build is scheduled to include an Endless Mode, the game’s Prologue and Chapter 1, as well as monster recipes and daily specials.

  • Endless Mode available from the start
  • The Prologue and Chapter 1
  • Monster recipes and daily specials
  • Dish traits and Missourite, with varying side effects
  • Staff hiring, bear traps and barricades
  • A shotgun described as an emergency option

The listed features point to a combination of restaurant operations and defensive planning. Hiring crew members, preparing dishes and managing the diner’s defenses will take place alongside the game’s broader survival scenario. The announcement does not describe the exact rules behind each system, but it confirms that the Early Access version is intended to establish the game’s main management and survival framework.

Selected for Unity’s G-STAR showcase

Unity has chosen Midwest 90: Rapid City as one of 30 indie games for its Indie Showcase at G-STAR 2026. Visitors can try the game at the Unity Zone in Exhibition Center 2, BTC Hall, at BEXCO in Busan from 19 to 22 November 2026.

The showcase gives the Malaysian-developed title a public presentation in a major Asian games event shortly after its Steam Early Access debut. For players in the Philippines and elsewhere in Southeast Asia, the game’s development and publishing arrangement also highlights a regional production link: Hidden Chest Studios is based in Malaysia, while Rising Tide operates from Thailand.

Planned content after Early Access

Hidden Chest Studios and Rising Tide have outlined additional milestones following the November release. A surprise update is planned for 31 December, while Chapter 2 is scheduled to arrive free of charge on 28 January. The full release is planned for March 2027, and the announcement says it will be free for everyone who enters Early Access.
