Roots of Pacha is Stardew Valley but in the stone age. If you’re looking for a new farming and life sim, then the recently released Roots of Pacha is one for you to check out. In this game, you can befriend mastodons, master the art of fire, and use your stone tools to advance your clan. But something that remains unchanged throughout the ages? Falling in love.
In Roots of Pacha there are 11 different people that you can date, fall in love and eventually marry. There are 6 males and 5 females to choose from and you can date any and all regardless of your gender. In this guide, we’ll go through all of them. How the dating and marriage system works, what everyone’s favourite gift is and all their flower events.

ALL THE BACHELORS
HOW TO ROMANCE SOMEONE
In Roots of Pacha and real life, you can gain friendship points by speaking with the people of the clan and by giving them gifts that they like.
DATING
Next to the name of each NPC is a picture of a flower. Platonic friendships will be shown with a yellow flower 
, while characters that are romanceable will have a pink flower 
. As your friendship improves with that person the number of flowers will increase.
Once you reach 6 flowers with a romanceable character, they will ask you to start dating them. You can date all the characters date all of the characters at the same time, with no repercussions, and gender doesn’t matter.
MARRIAGE
Once you reach 10 flowers with one of the romanceable, they will ask you if you want to form a union together (get married). It will take 4 days for the marriage to happen.
Once you marry someone in Roots of Pacha, they will move into your house and follow their normal schedule as if nothing changed. Your spouse will give you meals in the morning if you talk to them while they are cooking and will also occasionally give you gifts.
Frer
Frer is the clan’s fisherman. He is a quiet, kind and patient man who spends much of his time fishing in the water. He lives with his grandmother and can sometimes be seen hanging around the village with his longtime friend, Illoe.

FLOWER EVENTS

Location: The Land (Forest Entrance) | Time: 8AM – 8PM
- You run into Frer, who’s hesitant to walk into the Forest on his own even though Illoe asked him to get her some fish. As it turns out, he’s scared about something happening.
- You can choose to go with him or ask him to bring Illoe with him.
- Whatever you choose he doesn’t accept your offer and returns home.

Location: The Land (Savanna Entrance) | Time: 6AM – 8PM
- Frer will ask you to accompany him to the Savanna. There, he opens up and explains why he’s so afraid to leave the Clan Lands. As it turns out, he ran astray while on his first hunting trip and had to be saved by Illoe’s mother, something that cost her her life.
- However, after seeing you, Frer found the inspiration and mustered the courage to go out more often, with the objective of finding new kinds of Fish in the surrounding lands.
6 FLOWERS

- Once you reach 6 flowers speak with Frer and he’ll invite you to the Forest. There he plans to deliver some offerings to his totem.
- He’ll then ask if you’d like to start dating him. Choose to date him or remain friends.
Garrek
Garrek is the “thinker” of the clan. He’s interested in understanding the way things work, something that ironically leads him to view himself as misunderstood
Garrek is perhaps the most intelligent character in Roots of Pacha and spends most of his days contemplating the deeper aspects of prehistoric living. You’ll sometimes spot him staring off into space, buried deep into his thoughts. When you first meet him, he can come across as quite dry sometimes, but he warms up over time.

- Garrek is attempting to work out how to remove a stump using a log. With your help and a rock, he comes up with the idea of a lifter – using the rock as a fulcrum, he manages to lift the stump using the log.
- This makes Garrek reflect on how the clan probably thinks of him as a weird person. You can choose to tell him it was a great idea to cheer him up a bit. Or tell him he’s weird.

Location: The Land (Jungle Entrance)| Time: 8AM – 8PM
- Grob and Gin are struggling to remove a stump when Garrek walks by. He offers his help, but is rejected, as it’s a problem “that’s solved with muscles”.
- However, as they are struggling to remove the stump something ‘dropped’. You can choose to say it’s a stick or a rock. The rock is the correct answer.
- Now using the ‘lifter’ Garrek assembled, Grob is able to remove the stump with little effort. Then both Grob and Gin apologise for not taking him seriously before.
Jelrod
Jelrod is the clan’s musician and is the brother of Ibon. He’s supremely confident, often saying things like, “It takes many-many push-ups to look this good”. While he can come across as arrogant sometimes, Jelrod is really just a very confident man. He appreciates himself, but he also lends that same appreciation to other villagers on occasion.
Later in the game, he adopts a Guanaco to ride and shows his deep love for animals. “Grob says Fasty is just an animal, but I’d do anything for that creature.”

- Jelrod and Mana are having a race which he loses, so he challenges her to a rematch. Which he loses again. While resting, he admits to you both that losing at the previous race drove him to train in order to become a better racer.
Jukk
A clothing maker for the village of Pacha, Jukk, can be spotted most days inside the Hearth where he sews new clothes. He will often want to talk about clothing, but can occasionally catch you off-guard with a sincere compliment. Jukk lives with his two mothers, Jizu and Okka. He tends to be gregarious but also a bit reserved.

- Ibon is impressed by Jukk’s craftsmanship with clothing. According to him, the secret is thinking about them as an extension of someone’s self.
- However, Croll doesn’t seem to think the same: to him, ‘wraps are just wraps’, and there’s no further use to them. You can choose to say to Jukk “Croll sees the world differently”, or say “Don’t listen to him Jukk”.

- Jukk has come up with a wrap that will change Croll’s opinion of him. But does not have the courage to give it to him alone, Accompany and help him convince Croll to wear his latest design.
- Croll’s delighted by this simple yet insightful addition – a pocket. Just as Jukk mentions, it’s about one’s expression after all. He then thanks us for accompanying him.

- Once you reach 6 flowers speak with Jukk and he’ll invite you to a style show he’s set up.
- Say yes, and he will ask you to become more than friends. Choose to date him or not.
8 FLOWERS
Location: Any | Time: 9PM Onwards
- Speak to Jukk after your relationship has reached 8 flowers. Jukk will tell you he has something planned, and to approach him once the light’s gone out.
- Speak to him after 9 PM and accept his invitation to go to the beach. Then you’ll chat for a bit.
- At the end of the night, you can choose to kiss him or not.

- Once you reach 10 flowers Jukk will invite you to the Savanna, where he wants you to observe a rare albino mammoth.
- He’ll tell you he loves you, if you say you love him he will then ask you to marry him (join him in a Union). Choose whether you want to or not.
Krak
Krak is one of the first Yakuan clan members you meet when your Pacha clan clears some rubble that meets up to their territory. He is extroverted and kind, treating everyone equally. If you become closer to him, though, he opens up even more.
He carves materials and builds sand castles in his free time. He says, “Carving is a lot of fun, but I need to be inspired to do it.”

Touk
Touk is a member of the Mograni Clan. He’s a mighty hunter. Touk believes all problems can be solved by brute force. He lives with his sisters roaming the lands near the clan.
He is sometimes seen as simple or dumb by members of his own clan. This is not necessarily the case, he just tends to be uncomplicated and too brutish at times. Despite his many hunting talents and sometimes aggressive nature, Touk secretly loves all baby animals.
