My Time At Sandrock – The Complete Guide To Ranching

My Time At Sandrock is a life sim that takes place in a fictional desert town where you’re a Builder. Unlike other life and farming sims that we know and love, life in a desert faces a lot more challenges. It’s harder to collect and water plants, fishing looks completely different, but one thing that remains similar is ranching. Ranching in Sandrock lets you look after cute and friendly animals at your Workshop. Look after them well and you’ll be able to gather all sorts of resources that will be useful to your Builder needs.

Right now there are three different types of animals for you to look after, not including your horse/mount. There are rabbits/Floppy, chickens and yakmel for you to gather all sorts of resources from. They’ll need housing, feed and of course lots of love from you. In this guide, we’ll go through everything you’ll need to know about ranching in My Time At Sandrock.

Disclaimer: My Time At Sandrock was released on the 26th of May 2022 in Early Access. As such information in this guide is subject to changes and additions. We’ll be adding more to this guide as the game updates!

How To Obtain and Look After Animals

Before you have any animals at your Workshop you’ll need to make sure that you have proper shelter for them. The three different types of animals will require three different structures. Which will need a certain amount of space and materials in order to build before you can buy any ranch animals for your farm.

All animals can be bought at the Wandering Y Ranch. However they’ll only be sold at their infant stage, you’ll need to take care of them so that they can become an adult. Once at the adult stage, you’ll be able to gather produce from them or sell them to make a profit.

Apart from just building your animals a place to live, you’ll also need to look after them on a daily basis:

  • Clean the manure from their living space
  • Pet them every day
  • Feed them their favourite foods and avoid disliked foods
