Harvest Moon: The Winds Of Anthos – The Complete Mounts Guide

Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos is the latest instalment of the Harvest Moon series. And while it’s still a farming and life sim, there’s a good amount of role-playing elements in the game as well. In Anthos a slew of natural disasters had kept all the towns and people away from each other. Now it’s your mission to reunite everyone together and repair the towns.

Anthos is a huge world full of wild flora and fauna to discover and explore. While you can explore on your own two feet, it might be easier (and quicker) to get around on four. Along your travels, you’ll encounter some four-footed friends who can serve you as mounts and pets. Mounts are larger than pets and you’ll be able to ride them all over Anthos, saving you time and stamina.

There is a huge variety of mounts for you to ride on in Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos. And you’ll be able to find everything from your common horse to the mysterious sasquatch and even a velociraptor. You’ll be able to purchase mounts in different towns or try your hand at taming in the wild. In this guide, we’ll go through everything you need to know about mounts, how to get them, tame them and more.

How To Tame A Mount

The world of Anthos is full of wild beasts for you to tame and befriend. They however can be a bit skittish when you first see them. Most of the time animals will run away from you and disappear once you spot them, so the trick to befriending them is not to be spotted. You can do this by hiding in the grass, and walking slowly (not running) so that you can calmly sneak up to pet them.

Once you’ve been made a red exclamation mark will appear above the animal’s head. You must then touch and remain crouched until you pet ALL animals in the group. Approach mounts slowly and pet them, as well as give them gifts to raise their affection. Once you’ve reached eight music notes you will be able to bring the animal home.

Taking Care Of A Mount

Once your mount is home with you, you’ll need to look after them like any other animal or pet. Your mount’s speed will be directly affected based on their affection for you. To raise their affection and keep them happy, make sure to groom them every day and give them a gift.

Each animal has their own gift preferences, which will be unique to each individual animal so two animals of the same species may have two different favorite gifts.

Types Of Mounts

There are various types of mounts for you to collect in Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos. While colour variation won’t matter too much, the type of mount may affect how they’re ridden in certain biomes. For example, a horse will move faster in a grassy biome and slower in a desert or snowy one.

Special mounts like the Raptors, Unicorns and Sasquatch aren’t affected by any biome. And they provide an additional ability,
