Assassin’s Creed Mirage – The Complete Notoriety Guide

The Assassin’s Creed franchise is a long-reaching one that follows a tried and true formula of assassinations, exploration and intel gathering. However, in each game’s iteration Ubisoft has been sure to add something a little extra. And in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, they’ve introduced the Notoriety system. Think of this system similar to the wanted system in Red Dead Redemption and GTA. If you’re caught killing someone or robbing them then your Notoriety goes up.

This encourages you to be more stealthy and sneaky and to use those Hidden One skills to the best of your abilities. In this guide, we’ll go through everything you need to know about the Notoriety system. How to increase and decrease it, what levels they go through and more.

How to Increase Notoriety

Let’s start off this guide with how you’ll increase your Notoriety meter so that you can avoid (or keep it up if you want to). There are three levels of Notoriety that you can achieve with Level 3 being the most notorious. But we’ll go into that later.

Your notoriety will increase by committing any illegal action in front of a civilian or a guard. Here are some common examples.

  • Hijack someone’s horse/camel
  • Looting chests while someone is looking
  • Failed attempt at pickpocketing
  • Hurting/Killing civilians
  • Fighting/Killing guards

Assassin’s Creed encourages you to play the game like an assassin. So try to keep all your activities sneaky. Some of these things are unavoidable in missions so we’ll go on to how to decrease your Notoriety.

How to Decrease Notoriety

The best way to keep yourself from gaining any Notoriety is to do your crimes without being seen. This can be achieved by sticking to the shadows, making sure no one is around or throwing a smoke bomb in the area. If however you find yourself with a certain degree of Notoriety you can reduce it in these ways.

Tear down your wanted posters so civilians won’t recognise you and call the guards. You can find your wanted posters helpful highlighted in your minimap. It may go without saying but don’t do this in front of civilians.

Next up you can choose to bribe the Munadi to decrease your Notoriety level. To bribe them you’ll need a Power Favor Token which you can get from pickpocketing people on the street, or by completing contracts.

Lastly when you’re at Notoriety Level 3 which we’ll talk about later, elite guards known as the Shakiriyya will start to hunt you. If you eliminate them successfully you’ll reduce your Notoriety level. Watch out though because they’re a pretty tough customer.

Notoriety Levels

The more notorious you are the more challenging Assassin’s Creed Mirage will make it for you. At Level 1, various townspeople will call out to you while at Level 3 will summon the elite guards to track you down. We’ll go through everything you can expect at each Norotiety level here.

Notoriety Level 1Civilians may recognise you while you’re out in public and call the guards on you.
Notoriety Level 2Civilians and guards are now more alert of your presence. And there will now be additional archers posted on rooftops to spot and shoot you down.
Notoriety Level 3You will be hunted down by an elite guard called the Shakiriyya who will track and take you down. Listen for a loud instrumental noise that will alert you of their presence.
And the civilians will not actively gather around your wanted posters to talk about and look for you.
