Palia is a wonderful cozy sim game with a lot to do. Especially in the beginning, you’re going to want to get started levelling up all your skills, building up your home and crafting your tools. For that you’ll need materials and one of the most essential skills for that will be Mining.
There are currently eight main skills that you can do in Palia to get by. They are: Foraging, Gardening, Hunting, Cooking, Mining, Fishing, Insect Catching and Furniture Making. They’re all fairly interlinked such as Furniture Making requiring you to Forage for Materials as well as Mine for Stone. Some tools even require leather that you’ll get through Hunting. You won’t quite need to grind these skills, simply just take the time to enjoy all of them.
In this Palia guide, we’ll go through how Mining works in Palia, where to find resources such as Clay and Palium, upgrades to your Pick and more.

Disclaimer: Palia is currently out in Beta mode, as such information in this guide is subject to changes and additions. We’ll be adding more to this guide as the game updates!
How To Start Mining

Mining in Palia is similar to Tree Chopping in Palia, it requires you to equip the necessary tool and start hitting it with said tool. In the case of Mining, you’ll need the Pick and then a rock node to whack. Just hit the node until it breaks to be rewarded with the material and some Mining Skill XP.
There are currently five Ores in the game:
- Stone
- Clay
- Copper
- Iron – Requires Standard Pick
- Palium – Requires Fine Pick
Mining Upgrades
Your first Pick will be given to you by Hodari in the “Welcome to Palia” tutorial quest. After that, you’ll be able to upgrade that Makeshift Pick once you have the necessary Mining Level and materials.
These upgraded Picks will be necessary for you to mine higher-level materials such as Iron and Palium.
Pick | Mining Lvl | Recipe Cost In Store | Crafting Recipe |
---|---|---|---|
Standard Pick | Lvl. 3 | 250g | 1x Makeshift Pick 20x Sapwood Plank 5x Copper Bar |
Fine Pick | Lvl. 6 | 1500g | 1x Standard Pick 10x Heartwood Plank 5x Iron Bar |
Exquisite Pick | Lvl. 9 | 3000g | 1x Fine Pick 5x Flow-Infused Plank 2x Palium Bar |
Mining With Others
Like Tree Chopping, Mining is a skill that you can do with other people. As there are a limited number of nodes in a world (until they respawn) this is a nice way to share resources. All you need to do is hit an Ore Node once and you’ll get a drop when it breaks.
This means you can let other people hit the same Ore Node once and everyone will get a share. None of this last-hit resource-stealing nonsense in Palia!
Mining Node Locations
Clay

The difference between Clay and the other mineral nodes is that it looks completely reddish brown. You’ll find it mostly along the water such as near the beaches of Fisherman’s Lagoon and near the beach of Gillyfin Cove.
Copper
Copper is a common material with a fast spawn rate.

Good Locations to Farm
South of the Mayor’s Estate | Remembrance Garden |
Iron
Iron is a bit rarer than Copper and the best place to find it will be in Bahari Bay.

Good Locations to Farm
Behind Hodari’s House | Around Meadow Areas (near Sernuks) | Bahari Bay – Flooded Step |
Palium
Palium is the rarest ore currently in Palia and it can only be found in Bahari Bay. Most players would’ve already hit most of them when they spawn so patience is key.

Good Locations to Farm
Bahari Bay – Flooded Fortress | Bahari Bay – Proudhorn Pass |
