The upcoming MMO Palia will be a lifestyle game that is focused on community. Both online with their multiplayer mode as well as with the NPC characters in the game. In Palia you’ll be able to actually befriend and romance the characters you meet in the game. And your increased relationship will unfold unique storylines for each character, as well as add to the game’s mainline quests.
Some of these characters can be romanced as the game will have romance-related content and questline. But the developers did say that it’s not going to be compulsory for you to romance a character to get all their storylines. And not to worry if you’re playing with friends because the romance questlines will be single-player experiences. Might be a bit awkward if all your buddies are just watching you try and woo someone.
Right now there are 23 characters that you’ll be able to meet when Palia launches in closed beta on August 2nd (sign up here) and open beta on August 10th 2023. We’ve got all their information over here for you to learn more about them and how each character is related in Palia.

Ashura
Innkeeper of the Ormuu’s Horn, Ashura helps everyone settle in when they first arrive in Palia. You’ll find him either at the Inn or at the Remembrance Garden. Stop by the Inn to learn more about him and why some villagers call him the “Village Dad”.
He seems to like the Air personality better than Fire ones.

Badruu

Chayne
Chayne and Ashura are long-time friends, which is a special, unique bond. But Chayne is a “Shepp” of Hassian and Sifuu, which is a whole different kind of bond.
“Shepp” is a Majiri word with a similar meaning to “mentor”. Joining a village is a rite of passage in Majiri society. In order to do so, certain tasks must be completed and you must find a Shepp, who officially sponsors you joining a community. A Shepp is responsible for teaching a new villager the ways of the village. Perhaps someday you’ll need to seek out a Shepp that can help you find your path to acceptance into Kilima.

Hekla
One of the first pairs of friends you meet is Jina and Hekla, who help you get your footing after you emerge as one of the mysterious humans who surprisingly appear in Kilima Village one fateful day.
Jina found Hekla one day among the ancient ruins that are scattered around Kilima Village, and Hekla hasn’t left her side yet.

Hodari
Hodari is an elf who lives in Palia. He and his daughter, Najuma, live in Bahari Bay. Hodari is a miner, and helps you upgrade your pickaxe, as well as sells recipes for a smelter needed to create the materials to build your house, and various other mining-related recipes.

As the town tailor, Jel has a keen eye for fashion and a penchant for design. He is the youngest of six and a member of the illustrious Omiata family. Jina (Romanceable)
Curious Jina is always looking to learn and discover something new. She and her companion, Hekla, can often be found in the ruins, excavating for artefacts and clues to the past.
Jina and Hekla are constant companions, with Jina having found Hekla one day amongst the ancient ruins that are scattered around Kilima Village. While we don’t know a lot about Hekla’s past, we do clearly see that Jina has strong maternal instincts and can be heard singing old human lullabies.

Najuma is the daughter of Hodari, and is located in Bahari Bay. She use to go mining with her father, but was told not to go after it got too dangerous. Najuma’s mother was Leta, who is not around anymore.
She is a skilled tinkerer that can take apart and put together any gadget. May appear shy at first, but is quite chatty about her interests. Always finds creative ways to test explosives. She is an only child.

Palia
