Sun Haven – Which Race To Choose

Are you bored of your everyday farm sims and want one with more magic? Then Sun Haven is the fantasy farm sim for you! In this game, you’ll be farming crops, fishing and making friends, but this time you’ll be able to do it as an Angel or a Naga. Seven different races inhabit Sun Haven and it’s up to you what you want to be. Each race looks completely different from the others. The Elementals have their whole body consumed by one of the elements. The Amari are part humanoid and part animal. There is so much to customise!

But it’s more than just the aesthetic that you’ll want to consider when choosing your race in Sun Haven. Each race starts off with certain abilities which will affect the way you play the game. Demons have increased movement ability, and humans have better craft time.

In this Sun Haven guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know about each race to decide which is the best one for you!

Disclaimer: Sun Haven is still in Early Access and as such this information is subject to change. We’ll be adding more to this guide as the game updates.

Changing Your Race

At the beginning of Sun Haven, you’ll be asked to choose which race you’d like to be. It’s a big decision but don’t worry as this isn’t locked in. You’ll be able to change your race later in the game at the Salon.

In Sun Haven, there are a number of buildings in need of repair. With one of them being the Salon. The Salon is beside the clothing store and above the hospital. You’ll need five pieces of Fabric, 3,000 coins, and 25 wood planks to repair the store.

Once it’s all fixed you can speak to Billie to access to the original Character Creator Screen. This is the same one you use at the beginning of the game, and you’ll be able to change your race with it.

Angel

“With grace unmatched, Angels are beacons of light in the darkest skies. They act as watchers of the world and chronicle the history of everything they see. While not every Angel holds to the exact same principles, whatever path they choose they will walk with complete devotion.”

@sophi.lolk

Abilities: Miracle Spell
Effects: Restore 15HP and +15% of max HP heal of yourself and nearby allies. 3min cooldown.

Useful For: People who aren’t very good at combat in the game. It’s quite useful at the beginning of Sun Haven but diminishes in use over time.

Amari

“The origins of the Amari exist only as unfounded myth. What is known is that the Amari is strongly linked to their primal spirits, making them loyal allies who are in touch with the wilds of the world.”

Abilities: Primal Nature
Effects: Restore health by attacking enemies.

Useful For: Combat-driven people. Although imo this ability isn’t very noticeable at all. If you want to focus on health regen you might want to stick with the Angel race.

Demon

“Cunning and resourceful, Demons are creatures of darkness. They thrive in the shadow of night and are driven by their appetite for strength. For what is life’s purpose if not to maintain power? This is the Demon’s creed.”

Abilities: Shadow Rush
Effects: 60% Speed Boost. 3min cooldown.

Useful For: Having a speed boost is fun in the game if you’re not the patient sort. But there’s not much utility outside of that.

Elemental

Abilities: Elemental Tap
Effects: Restore 10MP + 10% max MP for yourself and nearby allies. 3min cooldown.

Useful For: Everyone! But probably later in the game when you have more spells to use.

Elves

“Elves are one of the oldest races in the world and are mystically attuned to the flow of life energy around them. Friends to all plants and animals, they are the most home in forests. However, younger members of this race are now spreading out into the world and creating villages where Elves have never been seen before.”

@Tofu

Abilities: Elven Eyes
Effects: 10% more damage with Crossbows.

Useful For: If you use the crossbow as your main weapon. A fairly useful perk for combat.

Human

“Ressourceful and ambitious, Humans have worked to emerge as one of the most prominent races of the world. A legacy of defying the odds and overcoming every obstacle is the birthright of this industrious race. Humans carry the uncanny desire not just meet expectations, but to surpass them.

Abilities: Expert Crafter
Effects: Increased Crafting Speed by +20%

Useful For: Everyone! You won’t go wrong with choosing the human race because to play Sun Haven you’ll need crafting. And the -20% crafting time is insanely useful.

Naga

“The naga are a secretive race, living underground for generations to keep their culture unspoiled by outside influence. Because they have hidden from the surface for so long, they have learned almost everything about subterranean living. Survival is the keystone of their culture.”

Abilities: Mermaid Touch
Effects: Reduces the difficulty of the fishing minigame by making the sweet spot 25% bigger.

Useful For: People that love to fish and have a difficult time with the QTA fishing minigame. (For our complete Sun Haven Fishing guide click here)
