Farming sims have a lot more going on than farming and the same is true for Coral Island. In this re-imagined farm sim set on a gorgeous tropical island. You’ll be able to grow crops, raise livestock, make friends and revitalize a town. And while you’re not doing all that you can explore this gorgeous world by going fishing or catching bugs!
The unique bugs of Coral Island can be caught with a net and can be shown off at the museum. Some are even worth a good amount of money to sell! In this guide, we’ll cover where and when to catch all the bugs on Coral Island!

HOW TO GET A Bug Catching Net
The good news about getting a bug catching net is that you can’t miss it! Sometime in your first week on Coral Island, you will receive a letter from Sunny and Eleanor inviting you to come by the Beach Shack.
Head over to Sunny’s Beach Shack by the Beach and a cutscene will play showing the couple arguing about what to give you. You will then be asked to pick between the fishing pole and the bug net. You can pick either of the two as they will still give you both.
The Beach Shack also sells the Improved Bug New for 3,700 coins for you to get later in the game.
HOW TO Catch Bugs
Catching bugs in Coral Island is simple in theory but requires some time and patience in order to perfect. Your first step will be to approach a bug quietly and then swing the net to catch it. Unfortunately the bugs here scare easily and will flash an exclamation point above their heads as you get close to them.
You will also notice a circular countdown timer that appears right next to the exclamation point. This will start full and slowly deplete as the bug becomes more afraid of your presence. Once that bar has completely depleted, the bug will flash two exclamation points above its head and begin flying and/or running away.
You can snag the bug mid-air as it runs away but more likely than not you’ve lost that catch. If the bug runs too far away, it will despawn, and you will no longer be able to catch that exact bug and must wait to find a new one.
