Harvestella – Best Crops To Plant, Farming Guide

Harvestella is the latest life RPG sim from Square Enix and Live Wire. If you love your dose of Stardew Valley with a taste of JRPG drama, then you’re going to love Harvestella. While you’re saving the world from disaster you’re still living day to day, which involves crafting and selling materials, growing fruits and vegetables, cooking and looking after your animals.

Farming is going to be a big part of Harvestella, in terms of making money, crafting materials and cooking recipes to help you get through your adventure. There are several crops to plant in Harvestella. Some of them can only be harvested in certain seasons, while others require a different biome or setting to grow. Some crops might even give you other, special benefits but are rather difficult to grow in the game.

We’ll go through all that and more in our Harvestella farming guide!

How To Start Farming

The first few days in Harvestella will be dedicated to tutorials about life in the game. Simply follow the instructions you’re told and you shouldn’t have a problem. But if you did skip some of it or got lost part way here’s a little instructional guide.

On the second day of Chapter 1, Cres the Doctor will give you some farming equipment. These will be the Hoe, Watering Can, Carrop Seeds x3 and Stella Wheat Seeds x3.

The tutorial will provide you with a 7×7 (49) square of space just outside your home in Bird’s Eye Brae. But more locations will be accessible once you progress through the game.

Next, it’s just a simple few steps to start farming:

  1. Equip the Hoe and plough the land. Indicated by a blue-coloured square.
  2. Equip the crop seeds and plant them on the ploughed land.
  3. Equip the Watering Can and water the square.
  4. Water the plant every day and you should get a fully-grown crop eventually. Growth times vary with each plant.
  5. Lastly harvest the fully-grown crop when ready.

Seasons In Harvestella

Each season in Harvestella lasts for 30 in-game days. After the 30-day time limit is up, the Quietus will appear, and any crops you have will die. You must complete a dungeon during Quietus that you have one day to complete. After the Quietus is over, you will enter the next season for another 30 in-game days, where you will start your harvest from scratch.

Note: Crops that are no longer in season will die on the first day of a new season (unless they are multi-seasonal crops). Specific crops do best during different seasons, so pay attention to what crops you are planting.
