QUICK LINKS

How To Start Fishing

The game will introduce you to its Fishing mechanic at the beginning of the game. In your first Quest from Merlin, you’ll be asked to find the Royal Tools, which includes the snazzy gold fishing rod. To get it you’ll need to complete the Fishing Expedition Quest.

The quest can be triggered by finding a Broken Fishing Rod around the ponds in the Peaceful Meadow (South of Goofy’s Stall). Give the rod to Goofy who will then give you the Royal Fishing Rod.

How To Fish

To start fishing you’re going to want to equip the fishing rod in your item wheel. Then head to a body of water to hit the action button to start fishing. The spots in the water with the ripples and the water have a higher chance of you getting better fish. If you choose to cast your rod outside of the ripples then you’ll most likely catch seaweed.

Once you’ve found your spot cast your line into the water. When a fish bites down hit the action button and then it’s a simple timing game. A large circle will expand and contract around your fish. Just hit the button in the targeted white circle area until you’ve caught a fish.

It’s that easy!

Different Coloured Fishing Spots

As we mentioned earlier you’re going to want to keep an eye out for those bubbles and ripples in the water to get fish. Additionally, these fishing spots also come in a couple of different colours: White, Blue and Gold. These fishing spots indicate the rarity of the fish and seafood dwelling there. Some fish or seafood will only appear in rarer spots. For example, Shrimp will only appear in Blue spots and not White.

The rarer the fish the more successful ring catches you’ll need to make. The White spot will require two successful reeling attempts. The Blue spot will need three and the Gold spot will need four.
