The Invincible – Is A Hard Atmospheric Atompunk Adventure

The Invincible is the hard science-fiction novel written by Stanisław Lem in 1964. Now Polish developer Starward Industries is bringing that gritty story to life with its game by the same name – The Invincible.

Partnering up with 11 Bit Studios, the publishers behind Frostpunk, This War of Mine and Child of Morta. You can expect that this atmospheric story-driven adventure is going to be full of hard choices. Set in a distant galaxy on the mysterious planet, Regis III, players will take on the role of scientist, Dr. Yasna.

Make the hard choices and explore multiple story paths and endings in this cinematic adventure thriller. As you embark on a mysterious mission to find the rest of your crew. Survival is a matter of your correct choices, and in the end, you might just uncover a, bigger than anyone could have imagined.

In The Invincible we’re left with the question. Are there places in the Universe that maybe we shouldn’t be in?

Regis III

The Invincible takes place in an alternative retro-future timeline, where digital technology has not been invented, nor has The Cold War ended. Think atompunk Fallout-esque tech. Although humanity uses analogue technology, it has conquered vast amounts of planets and ventured into many other galaxies thanks to it.

You are a scientist onboard an interstellar scientific expedition, suddenly thrown into a life-or-death rescue mission. Landing on the planet Regis III you have to find the missing crew members using some advanced space equipment, whilst relying on your brains and instincts to survive on this hostile and desolate planet.

What terrifying secrets does Regis III hold? What will you uncover while you’re piecing together the fate of your crew? And as you delve deeper into the mystery, you realise that perhaps you are not alone and that some places like this planet are better left untouched. But it’s too late to turn back.

The Invincible Gameplay

During the PC Gaming Show, Starward Industries debuted the first gameplay showcase for The Invincible. In the five minutes, we can see that the game plays like most walking simulators aka Firewatch. As expected of a sci-fi title there are various tools that can be used to continue your journey. There’s a vehicle you’ll be driving and of course choices that you’ll be making.

When many of us were teenagers, Lem gave us a vision of the future that felt surreal. And as a reader, I couldn’t imagine the world of The Invincible being more tangible than the one portrayed in the game. As a Polish publisher on a mission to showcase meaningful entertainment, we couldn’t pass by the opportunity to take on a game based on such an important piece of Polish cultural heritage as Lem’s book.

The Invincible

Rethink human’s dominion in The Invincible: a story-driven adventure set in a hard sci-fi world by Stanisław Lem. Discover planet Regis III as scientist Yasna, use atompunk tools looking for a missing crew and face unforeseen threats. Make choices in a philosophical story that’s driven by science.

The Unreal Engine 5 powered game The Invincible is set to launch at some point in 2023 for the PlayStation 4|5, and Xbox Series S|X, PC – Steam and the Epic Games Store.
