It was way back in the Genshin Impact’s 2.0 update that we were first introduced to Kamisato Ayaka, the eldest daughter of the Kamisato Clan. Now we’re about to reach Genshin Impact‘s version s 2.6 update that will feature her brother Kamisato Ayato. This dashing blue-haired Hydro sword-user has been long anticipated and as usual, you’re going to want to get in on those ascension materials earlier.
I’d put Ayato in a similar vein as his sister Ayaka except with one wielding Hydro and the other Cryo. If you’re looking for a DPS Hydro main then you’re going to want to roll for Ayato. His build is best optimised for dealing elemental damage and quick normal attacks. For our full elemental combo guide click here.
He’ll be the only new character arriving in the 2.6 update and will launch in just a few days on March 30th 2022.
WHO IS AYAto IN GENSHIN IMPACT?
When Ayaka and Ayato’s parents passed away, Ayaka became the leader of the Kamisato Clan, while Ayato worked within the government. He also leads the Shuumatsuban, the ninja organisation that Sayu belongs to. We haven’t seen much of Ayato around Inazuma, as he tends to operate behind the scenes.
In keeping with his position as head of a secret ninja organisation, Ayato is a pretty secretive character, so while we’ve only been treated to glimpses of his character throughout Genshin Impact.
Ayato’S CHARACTER BANNER

Ayato’s banner, Azure Excursion, will begin on March 30th 2022 and will run for 3 weeks. As for the other characters that will be joining him, there’s no confirmation on them as of yet. Rumours have it that it will be Yun Jin, Sucrose and Xiangling.
Alongside Ayato another banner will be running at the same time to feature crowd favourite – Venti. Venti’s rerun banners have included the following characters in the past: Sucrose, Razor, Noelle, Barbara, Fischl, and Xiangling. So he’s expected to return with some of the same characters this time as well.

Halfway through the 2.6 update on April 22nd 2022, Ayato’s banner will be replaced with his sister Ayaka who has previously been featured with Ninguang, Chongyun, and Yanfei.
For those of you that haven’t figured out the math of Genshin Impact‘s gacha system yet, 5-star character drop rates are a 0.6% chance. But after 89 attempts you’re guaranteed a 5-star character. If you wish on that particular character’s banner it will increase their rate by 50%. This means, at most, you’ll need 180 wishes to get the featured 5-star character.
AYATO’s TALENTS & PASSIVES
| Weapon: Sword | Role: DPS | Skill: Increase Normal DMG |
Talent | Type | Description |
Kamisato Art: Korobi | Normal / Charged Attack | Normal attack: Perform up to five rapid strikes Charged attack: Consume some stamina to dash ahead and perform an iai (counter-attack) Plunging attack: Attack while in mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging any enemies in your path and dealing area of effect damage upon impact |
Kamisato Art: Kyouka | Elemental Skill | Ayato summons a water clone of himself and immediately enters Soukai Kanka state. Ayato’s watery illusion taunts enemies and is set to explode if enough time has elapsed or if it receives damage. The explosion deals area of effect Hydro damage to nearby enemies. While Ayato is in the Soukai Kanka state, damage from his normal attacks switches from physical damage to area of effect Hydro damage. Ayato uses his Shunsuiken, a special blade made of water, allowing him to attack enemies using lightning-fast strikes. Whenever Ayato lands a blow to an enemy using his Shunsuiken, he gains a Wash Flash stack, increasing his damage based on his maximum health points. Wave Flash stacks up to four times, and you can gain a stack by attacking enemies every 0.1 seconds. Holding Wave Flash stacks also increases Ayato’s resistance to interruption. Ayato is unable to perform charged or plunging attacks while in the Soukai Kanka state. You can decrease the cooldown of Kyouka by attacking enemies with your party members specifically using normal attacks. |
Kamisato Art: Suiyuu | Elemental Burst | Upon activation, a large blue circle appears on the ground, damaging enemies standing inside the area with Bloomwater Blades. These blades deal Hydro damage, and they continuously rain down while the circle is active. Ayato’s party members also benefit from this elemental burst by increasing their attack speed while standing in this area, but the effect doesn’t apply to Ayato himself. |
Daily Cooking | Passive Talent | When Ayato cooks a dish perfectly, there’s an 18% chance that he receives an additional ‘suspicious’ dish of the same variety. |
Kiyotaki Jouhou | Passive Talent | Kyouka has the following properties after it’s used: – Ayato gains two Wave Flash stacks – When Ayato’s water illusion explodes after receiving damage, he gains a Wash Flash equal to the maximum number of stacks possible |
Katsusui Senkoku | Passive Talent | Suiyuu’s damage is increased based on 3% of Ayato’s maximum health points |
BEST WEAPONS FOR AYATO
Haran Geppaku Futsu

The Haran Geppaku Futsu is a new weapon that will be released in version 2.6 in Genshin Impact. As usual with character and weapon release, the weapon is generally optimised for the character it’s intended for. In this case, it’s no different as this sword’s abilities is directly correlated to that of Ayato.
The Haran Geppaku Futsu’s ability to increase Normal Attack damage sounds great for Ayato, who seems to rely heavily on Normal Attacks for damage.

BEST ARTIFACTS FOR AYATO

I think it doesn’t need to be said that a Hydro character will benefit greatly from a boost in his Hydro damage. As such you can aim for Heart of Depth as well as Gladiator’s Finale, which really can’t go wrong in the case of any main DPS character. The third artefact set to aim for is Echoes of an Offering and is a new set that is being introduced in version 2.6. This set will pair well in improving the strength of Ayato’s already formidably fast normal attack damage.
Set | Bonuses |
Heart of Depth | 2-Piece: Hydro DMG Bonus +15% 4-Piece: After using Elemental Skill, increases Normal Attack and Charged Attack DMG by 30% for 15s. |
Gladiator’s Finale | 2-Piece: ATK +18%. 4-Piece: If the wielder of this artefact set uses a Sword, Claymore or Polearm, increases their Normal Attack DMG by 35%. |
Echoes of an Offering | 2-Piece: ATK +18%. 4-Piece: When Normal Attacks hit opponents, there is a 36% chance that it will trigger Valley Rite, which will increase Normal Attack DMG by 70% of ATK. This effect will be dispelled 0.05s after a Normal Attack deals DMG. If a Normal Attack fails to trigger Valley Rite, the odds of it triggering the next time will increase by 20%. This trigger can occur once every 0.2s. |

Ayato’s Ascension & Talent Materials
Ayato’s Talent and Ascension materials can be found in Inazuma and are actually very similar to his sister Ayaka.
