Animal Crossing: New Horizons is having its biggest (and last?) update ever on November 5th. Version 2.0 includes a bunch of cool new features – which we’ve listed over here. As well as some new NPCs and Villagers that can make their way to your island! Are we calling them Villagers or Islanders now by the way?
Since the dawn of Animal Crossing, we’ve been obsessed with having the perfect villagers in our little town. ‘Villager Hunting’ was practically its own stream sub-category at the height of Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ popularity last year. And still a year later I still don’t have the dream Villagers I want. Judy where are you gurl?? But now with the 2.0 update, I could have new dreams.
There will be 16 new Villagers coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. But most excitingly half or 8 of these characters will be brand new to the series. While the other 8 are old favourites that are returning from the previous iterations of the series.
Here’s everyone that’s coming in the next update. Note that all the personality types of the new villagers are unconfirmed at the time of writing.
Sasha – Blue Rabbit

Gender: Male | Birthday: May 19th | Personality: Lazy
Sasha is one of Nintendo’s brand new villagers coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
This neon blue bunny design paired with adorable eyes is sure to sweep you off your feet.
Ione – Blue Squirrel

Gender: Female | Personality: Normal | Birthday: September 11th
Ione is one of Nintendo’s brand new villagers coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Ione looks like a contender for Marshall – the reigning King of Animal Crossing villagers and the Squirrel species. But it looks like Ione could threaten that dominance. She has a tail that holds all of the galaxy and her space outfit suggests a squirrel that loves the stars.
Tiansheng – Macaque Monkey

Gender: Male | Personality: Jock | Birthday: August 18th
Tiansheng is one of Nintendo’s brand new villagers coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen a new monkey villager in Animal Crossing. And the Monkey species notoriously does not rank high on the popularity scale. But it looks like Tiansheng could be the trend breaker. His golden circlet and overall design has definitely been pulled from Monkey God – Sun Wukong and is a must-have for any Asian inspired Island.
Shino – Cream Deer

Gender: Female | Personality: Peppy | Birthday: October 31st
Shino is one of Nintendo’s brand new villagers coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Shino’s red horns give her a bit of an intense demon appearance that’s juxtaposed with her sweet smile. With her birthday being on October 31st and with her kimono, I’m sure her design is to give homage to Japanese Kabuki. Loving her diversity along with Tiansheng.
Marlo – Hamster

Gender: Male |Personality: Cranky | Birthday: June 26th
Marlo is one of Nintendo’s brand new villagers coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Marlo is giving off Snooty hamster vibes. With his suit and moustache combo, I can see that he may be a hard one to win over. Hopefully, that’ll change as he warms up to you.
Petri – Science Mouse

Gender: Female | Personality: Snooty | Birthday: October 23rd
Petro is one of Nintendo’s brand new villagers coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Petri definitely has a fairly eccentric mad scientist air to her. With her giant glasses and lab coat, I’m really enjoying her differently coloured ears as well. Will she be the next must-have Villager with Raymond? I guess we’ll see. I’m sure her house will be excellent to visit.
Cephalobot – Robot Octopus

Gender: Male | Personality: Smug | Birthday: April 1st
Cephalobot is perhaps the most unique new Villager joining Animal Crossing’s current roster.
The Octopus species are already fairly popular in Animal Crossing. With Marina and Zucker being fairly high ranking on the popularity list. It seems that Cephalobot may be topping them, however. We’re hoping that Cephalobot has a mechanically themed house, which could be an exciting addition to the island.
Quinn – Black Eagle

Gender: Female | Personality: Uchi / Big Sister | Birthday: January 20th
Quinn is one of Nintendo’s brand new villagers coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Chabwick – Penguin

Personality: Lazy | Birthday: December 24th
Chabwick has not appeared in any English version of Animal Crossing but in the Japanese-only Dōbutsu no Mori e+. As an exclusive e-Reader character known by English fans as Nobuo.
Zoe – Blue Anteater

Personality: Normal | Birthday: February 10th
Zoe appeared in the Animal Crossing GameCube edition, as well as Dōbutsu no Mori e+. However, she hasn’t appeared in Animal Crossing games since.
Ace – Bird
Personality: Jock | Birthday: August 11th
This villager returns from the original Animal Crossing game released on Nintendo GameCube.
Rio – Ostrich

Personality: Peppy | Birthday: September 10th
Rio is a veteran of the Animal Crossing series, first appearing in the original Animal Crossing GameCube game, Dōbutsu no Mori, Dōbutsu no Mori+, and Dōbutsu no Mori e+. In all her appearances, Rio has been a Peppy Animal Crossing Villager.
Frett – Yellow Dog

Personality: Cranky | Birthday: October 30th
Frett is a Dog Villager, previously featured in Dōbutsu no Mori e+. He was known by English fans as Champagne
Azalea – Flower Horn Rhino

Personality: Snooty | Birthday: December 18th
This villager returns from the Japanese-only Animal Forest e+ game released on Nintendo GameCube where she was known by English fans as Petunia. She’s one of my favourite returning characters, mostly because her horn is a flower. Similar to Meringue.
Roswell – Alligator

Personality: Lazy | Birthday: May 2nd
Roswell also appeared in Dōbutsu no Mori e+ and was an exclusive e-Reader character under the name Pironkon. While some ACNH fans may find his strange markings and patterns charming, others likely won’t be willing to give up the limited slots on their islands for him.
Faith – Koala

Personality: Normal | Birthday: May 2nd
Faith is the final new Villager to Animal Crossing: New Horizons and appeared twice before in the Animal Crossing GameCube game and Dōbutsu no Mori e+. While she hasn’t topped the charts as one of the most popular Villagers in Animal Crossing, her island theme may make her stand out a bit more in New Horizons.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is coming back in full force! If you missed out on some things in the Direct be sure to catch all the features coming here. And for our other Animal Crossing: New Horizons news and guides you can check it all out over here.
You won’t need to buy the Happy Home DLC for New Horizons in order to be able to have access to these Villagers! When 2.0 rolls out on November 5th these Villagers should be able to found via Mystery Islands and Campsites.

Cephalobot was my first visitor after the latest update. Of course I invited him! He has the best house of any villager I’ve ever had! Very very nice…space themed ship with control centre and even a sleep pod.
