New Pokémon Snap is the long-awaited successor to the original classic Pokémon Snap. The game is about a wildlife field researcher that’s been sent out to take pictures of Pokémon in their natural habitat. It goes without saying that New Pokémon Snap adds quite a bit more new Pokémon, and has new features and of course jaw-dropping graphics.
In the Lental region, there’s a mysterious phenomenon occurring with Pokémon: they now glow and it’s very pretty. The region seems to have special large, glowing Pokémon, dubbed Illumina Pokémon. As you learn about Pokémon and the areas they inhabit, you have to help Professor Mirror figure out what the deal is with Illumina Pokémon and the history behind them.
Pokémon Snap works as a rail shooter with your NEO-ONE pod following a pre-set course. However, in this New Pokémon Snap, your pod can go off-course if you manage to unlock the alternate routes. You’ll need to unlock all these alternate routes to find all the Pokémon rare and legendary Pokémon. As well as new places to explore and see. Follow our guide here to capture them all!
Founja Jungle – Behind The Waterfall

Once you reach Reasearch Level 2 in the Founja Jungle, you’ll be able to run a scan that showcases a route behind a waterfall. If only that pesky Liepard wasn’t blocking the way. This route is available in both the day and night modes so we’ll show you how to unlock it each time.
Do note that after moving the Liepard the route won’t be open permanently. So you’ll have to move the Liepard every time you play the level.
Day
During the day in Founja Jungle, you can move the Liepard by firing Illumina Orbs at it until it jumps off the rock. You’ll need to throw Illumina Orbs before it gets comfortable and settles down on the rock, so you should start throwing them at the Liepard as soon as it’s in your field of vision.
Once it’s gone, you’ll be able to scan the area and take the path behind the waterfall.
Night

To move the Liepard at night in Founja Jungle, you’ll need to move the Pikipeks that’s also sitting with it. As soon as the Pokémon are within your field of vision, play music. This will make the Pikipek wake-up and fly off.
Next, hit the Liepard with Fluffruit to make it get up and leave. A Morelull will remain on the rock, but you don’t need to do anything to it to access the path. Just like during the day, after you chase off the Liepard, you’ll be able to scan and access the waterfall.

Founja Jungle (Day) – Ancient Ruins Route

To unlock the secret path that leads through the Ancient Ruins, you’ll need some eagle-eyed tossing. First look for the sleeping Liepard at the beginning of the course and wake it up.
Next, you will want to use an Illumina Orb on the Liepard that’s sleeping on top of the cliff near the swamp and Toucannon. Then just before you reach the Ancient Ruins, turn around and throw Fluffruit at the Liepard that’s standing behind the NEO-ONE.

Upon reaching the path that leads by the Ancient Ruins, watch as a Liepard jumps down from the branches above and knocks the NEO-ONE to the ground below. Giving you access to the Ancient Ruins Route.
Founja Jungle (Night) – Wake Up Swampert
If you’ve played through Founja Jungle (Night) at research level two in New Pokémon Snap, there’s a good chance you’ve already seen Swampert. The issue is that it appears to be asleep underwater – meaning you can only snap a pretty poor one-star photo. Fortunately, there is a way to wake Swampert up.
Weirdly enough, the way you wake up Swampert in New Pokémon Snap actually has nothing to do with Swampert. Instead, Leafeon is your key to success here, as well as a bunch of Ariados who attempt to scare it.

When you begin the Founja Jungle stage keep your eyes on Leafeon. Before the swamp, Leafeon will stop for a second or two. This window is slightly extended if you use the NEO-ONE’s turbo function to get here faster. At this point, throw a Fluffruit at Leafeon, which will cause it to jump into some thick bushes on the left-hand side of the main path.
This opens up the swamp route. Use your scanner to switch routes and immediately speed up. If you’re too slow Leafeon will run ahead.

When you get through the bushes, use your music player. Leafeon should be standing under a tree at this point. The music player causes Ariados to drop down from the tree, which frightens Leafeon. Leafeon will dash away into the swamp to your right, which is where Swampert is sleeping underwater causing him to wake up.
