Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is the latest in the ever-growing farming sim market. From Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley and other Story of Seasons games, farming and life sims have been slowly creeping up to the top of the charts. Maybe we crave the peaceful serenity of a life outside of the city. Maybe it’s all about playing a game that doesn’t require high skill combat mechanics. Or maybe it’s the simple joy of petting your cute fat cows every day. Whatever your reasons for getting hooked onto farming sims you’re not alone and now where’s a new game coming to town.
From Marvelous Inc. the developer of Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town comes their next game Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town.
Revamped Gameplay
Much like most farming games your journey begins with you leaving the big city behind to start your life on a rural farm. Olive Town is an adorable and cute little harbour town with very little tourism. But that’s all about to change with your arrival. Build your farm, develop the town, make friends with the locals and watch Olive Town thrive. In Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town not only are you given the biggest farmland to date but they’ve added a few new twists on the classic gameplay elements.
Crafting, building and landscaping are a few of the new gameplay elements in Pioneers of Olive Town. Use these skills to beautify the environment, not only on your farm but all around Olive Town. The extensive crafting mechanic will include furniture, decoration items, tools and things to make your daily farming chores easier. Think Animal Crossing: New Horizons where you’ll need to gather materials to craft new items. Or My Time At Portia where you can craft buildings and tools for your farm.
Adopt All The Animals
The wilds of Olive Town are teeming with wildlife but it seems there cows, alpacas, chickens and even buffalo that are available for you to find roaming through the trees and grasses. Once you find these wild animals you can tame and bring onto your land where they’ll give you milk, fur, eggs and the usual. We even saw a tease for the return of a horse and even a giant dog that will be available to ride around? Sign us up for that!
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town will also reward you for your exploration. With your trusty camera you’ll be able to document all the wildlife and donate it to the museum in town.

Marriage Candidates
What’s a life sim without romance? Story of Seasons has a whole host of bachelor and bachelorettes for you to choose from. Each with their own unique personality and characteristics. And Marvelous did mention that there might be some returning candidates from previous games. Please be the Kappa.
So far the developers have revealed the six Bachelors available to us in Olive Town. Complete with their own personality tagline. Do you want that moody aloof stargazer Damon? Or is the sociable fisherman Emilio more your style?
As well as the lovely bachelorettes. As usual, I feel like the females are way cuter than the guys.
As per the previous Story of Seasons, marriage is now gender fluid and you’re free to romance whoever you like. Unlike previous Harvest Moon games that would lock you in by having you only able to romance the opposite gender.
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town Release Date
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town will release first in Japan on the Nintendo Switch on February 25th 2021. With the English version coming on March 23rd 2021. The previous Friends of Mineral Town had us waiting around for almost a year so this is much better.
