The Fury Sisters
In Greek mythology, the Fury Sisters were created when Cronos castrated his father Uranus (Ouranos) and threw his genitalia into the sea. The three Fury sisters: Alecto, Megaera and Tisiphone emerged from the drops of blood and became the forever loyal servants of Hades. They are sent by Hades to stop Zagreus from escaping.
Theseus & Asterius
Theseus is the mythical king and founder-hero of Athens, most famous for slaying the Minotaur. Which is a great story if you haven’t already read it you should. Theseus was recruited by Hades to help prevent Zagreus’s escape. He fights alongside the Minotaur Asterius as the final boss of Elysium, and serves Elysium as its champion and King. In life, Asterius was locked in a labyrinth by his father, King Minos, only to eventually be slain by Theseus. In death, the two are apparently comrades.
Demeter is the goddess of the harvest and presides over grains and the fertility of the earth. Although she was most often referred to as the goddess of the harvest, she was also goddess of sacred law and the cycle of life and death. She gave life as well as took it away. Her daughter Persephone was abducted by Hades and Demeter endlessly searched the world for her. During this time the seasons halted and living things stopped growing and died.
Many of the boons she offers to Zagreus inflict her signature Status Curse, Chill, which causes enemies to slow down and, possibly, shatter, spreading the Curse. Demeter only appears after reaching the surface for the first time.
Aphrodite is the Olympian Goddess of love, beauty and desire. Just like the Fury Sisters Aphrodite was born when Cronus severed the genitals of Uranus (Ouranos) into the sea. She was created from the white foam in the ocean caused by that… action.
She offers boons to Zagreus that inflict her signature Status Curse, Weak or make enemies more susceptible to damage.
Artemis is the Greek goddess of the hunt, wild nature, and chastity. The daughter of Zeus and sister of Apollo, Artemis was regarded as a patron of girls and young women and a protectress during childbirth. To the Romans, she is known as the goddess Diana. She offers boons to Zagreus which give his abilities the chance to deal Critical damage. In addition, she also offers boons that improve Cast abilities.
Dionysus is the god of the grape harvest, winemaking and wine, of fertility, orchards and fruit, vegetation, insanity, ritual madness, religious ecstasy, festivity and theatre in ancient Greece. He is also known as Bacchus for the frenzy he induces is bakkheia. He offers boons to Zagreus revolving around his signature Status Curse, Hangover, slowing and stunning enemies, as well as various drinking-themed Boons.
