Genshin Impact is hitting it out of the park with their updates happening every six weeks. Ensuring that I never have any time to play another game. In their largest version 1.1 patch, the game introduced new events, quests and of course characters. We summed up all the characters here in our November character update but were somewhat surprised when Zhongli and Xinyan didn’t make an appearance. Turned out miHoYo was saving them for a second rollout happening tomorrow on December 1st. Sneaky sneaky miHoYo, I guess I’m never starting Godfall.
Tomorrow a new character banner will launch in Genshin Impact that will feature the 5-star Geo character Zhongli. As well as not one, not two but four, four-star claymore wielders Xinyan, Razor and Chongyun. The banner will run from the 1st of December until the 22nd. The event banner is the only time you’ll be able to get Zhongli so start farming and saving those Primogems now.

Now let’s deep dive into Zhongli and Xinyan to see if they’re worth your Primogems. Spoiler alert – they are.
Zhongli ★★★★★ – Geo
| WEAPON: POLEARM | ROLE: BURST| SKILL: PETRIFY ENEMIES |
Wangsheng Funeral Parlor’s mysterious consultant. Handsome, elegant, and surpassingly learned. Though no one knows where Zhongli is from, he is a master of courtesy and rules. From his seat at Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, he performs all manner of rituals.
Judging by his abilities, it seems like Zhongli will be a strong DPS Geo character that can pair well with other Geo characters like Ningguang and Noel. The combination of the duo has already proven to be great. The addition of Zhongli to that equation can make the dream team of Geos a strong possibility.

Talent | Type | Description |
Rain of Stone | Normal / Charged Attack | Normal Attack: Performs up to 6 rapid strikes. Charged Attack: Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to lunge forward, causing stone spears to fall along his path. |
Dominus Lapidis | Elemental Skill | Tap: Commands the omnipresent power of the earth to solidify into a Stone Stele, dealing AoE Geo DMG. • The Stone Stele will resonate with other Geo Constructs in the vicinity, dealing Geo DMG to surrounding enemies. • The Stone Stele is considered a Geo Construct, and can both be climbed and used to block attacks. • Only one Stele may exist at any one time. Hold: Causes nearby Geo energy to explode, causing the following effects: • Creates a shield of jade. The shield’s DMG absorption scales based on Zhongli’s Max HP and absorbs Geo DMG 250% more effectively. • Deals AoE Geo DMG. • If there are nearby targets with the Geo element, it will drain a large amount of the Geo element from a maximum of 2 such targets. (This effect does not cause DMG.) |
Planet Befall | Elemental Burst | Brings a falling meteor down to earth, dealing massive Geo DMG to opponents caught in its AoE and applying the Petrification status to them. Petrification: Petrified enemies become immobilized. |
Resonant Maves | Passive Talent | When the Jade Shield takes DMG, it will Fortify. Fortified characters have 5% increased Shield Strength. Can stack up to 5 times, and lasts until the Jade Shield disappears. |
Dominance of Earth | Passive Talent | Planet Befall deals additional DMG equal to 33% of Zhongli’s Max HP. |
Arcanum of Crystal | Passive Talent | Refunds 15% of the ores used when crafting Polearm-type weapons. |

Zhongli’s elemental skill is extremely useful—especially if you’re hunting for ore. Pressing the Elemental Skill does Geo damage to enemies around him, but if you hold it he’ll charge it up and unleash a burst that shatters any Geo objects. like stone shields, and ore deposits.
His Elemental Burst calls down a meteor that turns enemies to stone, an effect that looks pretty similar to freezing enemies solid with Cryo magic. His abilities scale with max HP and he has the passive of returning 15% of ore used to craft polearms.
