We’re now in month eight of what’s officially the longest year in existence. Now most of us are just waiting for the end of 2020 for that light at the end of the tunnel, the launch of the PlayStation 5. But that’s still four months away and there’s plenty of great releases coming out on this generation’s consoles. PC players you don’t need to worry about any of this stuff. This month we’ve got a lot of great looking RPGs and action-adventure games for everyone. Whether you’re looking for hardcore action, looking for something to relax with or just a few nostalgic moments. August looks to be a good month.
Hellbound by Saibot Studios – August 4th
“You are a huge-ass motherfucker killing demons in Hell”. Hellbound is a hardcore 90’s First Person Shooter game in the vein of the classics DOOM, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, you get it. In this fast-paced First Person Shooter, you’ll be fighting in Hell against unspeakable evils. It’s a grotesque game focused on action, speed, gore, and metal music. All you have to do in this game is kill demons, find secret items, strafe-jump a lot, and of course… shoot some big motherfucking guns.

Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition by Guerrilla Games – August 7th
One of the best PlayStation exclusives to ever be released is Horizon Zero Dawn and now it’s coming on to the PC. Now I don’t really like putting on ports or remasters on this list but I’m putting this here because I think because everyone needs to play Horizon Zero Dawn. Set in a gorgeous post-apocalyptic world you play as our kickass protagonist Aloy. An outcast from her tribe your hunt for your past uncovers your destiny to save the future. Horizon Zero Dawn has won all the awards and is very reasonably priced for PC right now. The complete collection includes The Frozen Wilds DLC which is well worth it. So make sure to wishlist this for later this month. If you’re starting off brand new as well you know we got our Horizon Zero Dawn – Beginner’s Guide to help you out!

Willy Morgan and the Curse of Bone Town by imaginarylab – August 12th
Willy Morgan and The Curse of Bone Town looks like a dead ringer for those old school ’90s point and click adventures that I loved. If you’ve ever played Monkey Island or Book of Unwritten Tales you’ll know what I’m talking about. Following the titular Willy Morgan, players piece together the mysterious disappearance of Willy’s father in the declining Bone Town, collecting helpful odds and ends, meeting colourful characters and solving puzzles. Also lol @bone town.

Eastern Exorcist by Wildfire Game – August 14th
Fans of the 2D side-scrolling action RPG genre have another game to look forward to with Eastern Exorcist. Set in a beautiful but infected world you as the exorcist need to fight vicious demon monsters. It is a vibrant Chinese ink painted fantasy game full of story, unforeseen entanglements and complex being. It looks like a beautiful fluid game that pays homage to its East Asian roots.
