SOS: Friends of Mineral Town – Best Crops To Plant

Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is the game is a remake of the original Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town. It was just launched on the 15th for the Nintendo Switch and PC. If you’re a fan of the previous game be sure to check out our article on all the new changes from the original game here! Starting any farming sim is a little daunting there’s a lot to learn and of course, money to be made. Each season has a variety of crops and it’s best to know which will nab you the biggest profits. Once you get all that going you can focus on the more fun stuff of the game! And of course, a little extra stamina couldn’t hurt so make sure to tab open our Power Berry location guide too.

Coming up we’ve got a quick and easy guide for which crop to plant each season. First rule, don’t plant flowers to make money.

Spring

Strawberries and then Cabbages are the most profitable crops of spring simply because of their frequency of harvest. But you’re going to able to do these crops in your first year of SoS: FoMT since the seeds for Cabbage are too expensive to invest in and you wouldn’t have unlocked Strawberries yet. Instead in your first year, you should focus on planting Turnips to make the most money as quickly as possible. You can plant other crops too of course since you’ll need them for other things (the Kappa loves cucumbers). But you should make the bulk of your crops for the first year of Spring Turnips.

As a note, you’ll be able to unlock the strawberry seeds once you ship 100 Turnips, Potatoes and Cucumbers. Don’t be discouraged if you can’t do this in your first year. I don’t think you’re supposed to.

Summer

The reason to go hard in Spring is so that you can go even harder in Summer. Summer’s best crop of the season is Pineapple so make sure to buy as much Pineapple seeds as you can afford from Huang. But don’t plant Pineapples after Summer 5 for the best profit.

The locked seed of Summer is the Pumpkin seed which you’ll get after shipping 100 Tomatoes, Corn and Onions. But Pineapples by far still remain the most profitable so that’s where all your focus should lie.

Autumn

Coming down from the high of Summer, in Autumn your mot profitable plant will be Green Peppers. Spinach is a close second, but it doesn’t regrow, which means more work for you and has to be unlocked by shipping 100 Eggplant, Carrots and Yams. You’ll probably not be focusing too much on farming in this season for money but instead make some time to forage. Remember you won’t need to clear your field at the end of the season because everything will die off in Winter.
