Godfall by Counterplay Games
One of the biggest games at this year’s PC Gaming Show is an upcoming looter-slasher set in a high-fantasy setting. Godfall is Dark Souls–esque battles set in a universe filled with heroic knights, arcane magic, and forbidden realms. I mean really the sub-sect fanbase for this gaming genre is huge. So I imagine the pre-orders are going to be lit (me included). Godfall looks amazing but right now has the generic description of “legendary knight on a quest to ultimately defeat a mad god”. Okay. But it looks like a game me and my friends are just going to full-on binge so I’m definitely getting it. Godfall is coming out this December or for the “holiday season” on the PlayStation 5 and Epic Games Store.
Twin Mirror by Dontnot Entertainment
Twin Mirror is being made by Life is Strange developer Dontnod Entertainment, so you know it’s going to be good. Getting out of high school to the equally difficult years of your mid-life, we follow Sam Higgs. A former investigative journalist that’s running from his past. However, the death of his best friend forces him to return to his hometown and he’s finally forced to confront everything that he’s been running from. A gripping psychological thriller, you’ll need to make decisions and interactions to find out what’s going on in this town. I’m definitely intrigued for this one, mainly because I know Dontnod isn’t going to let us down. Twin Mirror is coming out sometime this year on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC – Epic Games Store.
Haven by The Game Bakers
Why did I miss this game? A romantic space adventure to play ‘with a special someone’?! Sign me up for that computer AI! I like when games take on the difficult tasks of showcasing love. Why is love difficult? Well, it isn’t, but everyday love kinda is. Haven is a game about long-term relationships – ups, downs, squabbles and surviving together on a new planet. It’s going to be a different kind of co-op RPG adventure but one that is going to be amazing and important. There’s no official release date for Haven yet but there is a demo available on their Steam page. And the release date just states 2020. The game is set to be released on the PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox (Game Pass) and of course PC. But according to their press kit it isn’t a finalised list.
Evil Genius 2: World Domination by Rebellion Developments
The much-anticipated sequel to the cult classic strategy title, Evil Genius. The original Evil Genius was developed by the now-defunct Elixir Studios and released in 2004. It cast you in the role of a James Bond-esque supervillain, who must build his villainous lair and eventually take over the world. Good news for fans of the original Evil Genius 2 seems to be sticking fairly close to the format of the original. With us building our own evil lair in the middle of a volcano. From there, you’ll need to train your various minions and even hire special operatives who will embark on global missions and help you battle the odd secret agent who may try to infiltrate your lair. Evil Genius 2 is set to release on PC – Steam sometime in 2020.
Ooblets by Glumberland
Have you already burned yourself out on Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Then you might have space in your life now for Ooblets. Another wonderful charming life simulation game, because can we really have too many? I mean real life just isn’t great right now. Ooblets is self-described by the developers as Harvest Moon meets Pokémon meets Animal Crossing. In Ooblets you need to farm, collect creatures, befriend your townsfolk but most importantly have epic dance-offs. The game is out sometime this year on the Epic Games Store.
