7 New Games From The Humble Brag By Humble Bundle

It’s 2020 and just as we thought Nintendo has had it right all along. From their portable console to their online Nintendo Direct announcements. Really what better way than to get all the gamers together than online? Well jumping on this bandwagon is the pay what you want store Humble Bundle, with their first pre-recorded Humble Brag presentation. They’re calling this the first in a ‘series’ so expect more Humble Bragging in the future.

In this announcement, the publisher announced five partnerships with upcoming games, as well as two new games that will be launching soon. Let’s get into it.

One Step From Eden by Thomas Moon Kang

It’s hard to classify the genre of this game, on one hand, it appears to be a strategic card game. But there’s also real-time, rogue-like action with it? Interesting. Well if you like both genres this game looks like a fun, fast-paced romp with that nostalgic old school pixel art that everybody loves. Play on your own or play co-op with a friend to cast spells, battle enemies and collect game-changing artefacts. One step at a time will be releasing today (March 26th) on the Switch, PC, Mac and Linux. If you’re interested you can get it now on the Humble Store for USD $19.99.

Fae Tactics by Endlessfluff Games

I’ve been playing classic tactics games for the last fifteen years and I’m always on the lookout for more. What can I say girl loves that tactical gameplay. From the gameplay video, this one looks like a full-on classic journey that feels familiar but one that I’ll definitely be playing. Fae Tactics has a strong amount of classic RPG tropes right down to their storyline which follows a young magic-user into a world filled with magical fae creatures. Right now the game is aiming for a Spring 2020 release (that’s soon!) and you can find it on Humble Bundle when it’s out.

Ring of Pain by Simon Boxer, Twice Different

A dungeon crawler card game with roguelike elements. In Ring of Pain, each level is randomly generated from a deck of cards and as you interact with the cards the dungeon will adjust. You can choose to fight or sneak your way through this ring which is set in a world in your mind. Colour me intrigued. Inspired by Binding of Isaac and Enter the Gungeon it’s a turn-based card game. But I think we can all agree it’s so much more than that. The expected release date for this game in Q2 of this year, you can wishlist it now on Steam.

The Iron Oath by Curious Panda Games

I know what you’re thinking another pixel-art, turn-based RPG tactical game. Oh, you weren’t thinking that? Just me then? Okay. Actually turn-based RPG is one of my favourite types of genre and I’m interested to see what The Iron Oath has to offer. Set in a dark fantasy world because aren’t they all? You’ll have to manage your Guild and make some hard decisions. I think we might be leading into Banner Saga territory here but the descriptions are exceedingly generic. I guess we’ll learn more about The Iron Oath closer to the date which is sometime in 2020. You can wishlist it here on Steam.

Wildfire by Sneaky Bastards

A stealth game but make everything flammable. That’s Wildfire in a nutshell and if those words intrigue you then maybe we need to keep a closer eye on you. In Wildfire you can master the elements to freeze water, move the earth and of course start fires. All in an effort to reclaim your captured home. Wildfire can be played on your own or in couch co-op, where you and your buddy can combine your elemental powers to summon Captain Planet! No wait not that last part. Wildfire has no release date but will be out on PC. You can wishlist it now on Steam.

Ambition: A Minuet In Power by Joy Manufacturing Co.

A revolutionary, romantic, rogue-lite visual novel where your choices change the course of history is the official description. Set during the French Revolution you play as a “woman of fashion”, abandoned by her fiance. According to the description of this game, you need to “seize love, wealth and power by whatever means necessary”. Which kinda sounds like “woman of fashion” is the old French translation for a golddigger. Which you know more power to her. A girl has gotta do what she’s got to do, to keep her head off that guillotine. Viva la revolution! Right now Ambition: A Minuet In Power has no release date but it will be available on the PC and Mac. You can wishlist it to keep an eye on it on Steam.

Prodeus by Bounding Box Software Inc.

Another retro-like game but this time it’s FPS. Prodeus re-imagines old FPS games with modern rendering techniques and it’s really not bad. It looks like the old Duke Nukem games I used to play. Definitely the graphics that I remember in my mind, not the ones that I look at today because it has aged poorly. Prodeus promises tons of blood, gore and secrets? Not sure about that combination of words in a sentence but I watched the gameplay and I’m intrigued. Prodeus is expecting an early access version to be out this Summer with a full release later this year. The game will be released on the PlayStation 4, Switch, Xbox One, PC, Mac and Linux. Wishlist it now on Steam.
