The Dota Pro Circuit is making its first Major stop here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! Held by PGL, China’s ImbaTV and the Malaysian EGG Network, The Kuala Lumpur Major will be Malaysia’s largest Dota 2 tournament. There’s a USD$1 million prize pool as well as three days of public playoff matches to be held at the Axiata Arena.
The event runs November 9 to 18, with group stages taking place on the 9th and 10th and playoffs following thereafter. The public portion of the event runs from November 16th to the 18th — and if you want to attend, tickets go on sale 6th September with special discounts for U Mobile and Astro customers. You can buy the tickets from their website here.
The 16 qualified teams will compete for a prize pool of USD$1,000,000 with all participants taking home some of the prize money. The winning team will get to walk away with USD$350,000 while the 13th to 16th places will be walking away with USD$10,000. From the looks of the prize pool distribution, which has individual prizes up to fourth place, it’ll be a double-elimination event.
The event will run on the new Dota Pro Circuit system, with certain deadlines and rules imposed for registration and qualification:
- Teams must lock in their rosters by September 15 at 10:00 AM PT (1 PM ET).
- The qualifiers for the Majors take place September 16-21 online and will fill the majority of the Major’s slots.
- Immediately after, the Minor qualifiers and the Minor main event will take place. Qualified Major may NOT participate in these.
- The Minor’s winner will earn a spot at the Major.
There are no direct invites to this Major.
We have no official confirmation on when the Minor nor its qualifiers will take place yet.
