It may have taken developer Playdead six years to follow-up on their 2010 indie hit Limbo with 2016’s Inside. But it may not take the studio nearly that long to release their next project.
Playdead recently took to their Twitter account to share a piece of concept art from their next game. The image below is presumably a teaser shot from Playdead’s upcoming game. It’s reminiscent of Inside’s muted color palette. But appears to take place in an intergalactic setting. The tiny hero looks like an astronaut, and it appears they’re traversing a planetary surface.
Thanks for your warm reception of INSIDE. Since release, Playdead founder Arnt Jensen and the team have been working on the next adventure. pic.twitter.com/RfejnH39mR

It’s heartening for studio fans that Playdead is already at work on its next game. We waited nearly six years after Limbo to play Inside. Following Inside’s release, studio co-founder Dino Patti left Playdead, to the tune of a reported $7 million settlement.
That event hasn’t seemed to slow the studio down, based on its tweet. It’s too early to say whether Playdead is going into space for its follow-up to Inside. But that would be a marked change of scenery from 2016’s most darkly comic earthbound adventure.
