Top 10 Games Coming Out This August 2016

ABZÛ by Giant Squid – August 2nd

ABZÛ was featured as our Top 10 Most Promising Indie Games at E3 2016. The game has been in the works since its debut at E3 2014. Developed by Matt Nava the art director behind Journey and FlowerABZÛ is an amazing amalgamation of serenity and adventure. It looks like the type of game that’ll draw you in with soothing music and beautiful atmospheres, and keep you going for the mystery you’re sure to solve. It sort of feels like Journey but with fish.

Batman: The Telltale Series by Telltale Games – August 2nd

Last year’s game awards gave rise to the announcement of a Batman Telltale series. Our caped crusader has been fighting comic book crime since the 1930s. Since then we’ve got a whole host of Batman TV shows, cartoons, movies (don’t even get me started on Batman v Superman). Now comes the latest and most anticipated Batman sequel in gaming, Batman: The Telltale Series.

Livelock by Arc Games – August 2nd

Livelock tells the story about humanity’s attempt at survival after a devastating phenomenon destroys all organic life on Earth. As a new story trailer details, sentient life isn’t prepared to die out that easy. In this top-down cooperative shooter, you’ll play as one of three Capital Intellects whose robot body has been infused with a human mind. Choose between Hex, Vanguard or Catalyst to defeat smart enemies and revive humanity once again with the discovery of Eden.

No Man Sky by Hello Games – August 9th

After much delay, the long awaited action-adventure survival exploration game No Man Sky is being released. The vast universe of the game features quintillions of planets and seemingly endless opportunities for exploration. In this infinite procedurally generated galaxy, you can be whoever you want to be. A trader, and explorer a space pirate, the possibilities are endless. Check out everything we know about the game.

Bound by Plastic Studio – August 16th

Bound is a narrative platformer, set in a stunning 3D landscape. In which, you can explore the game’s surreal environment and in doing so reveal the tale that underpins the game. The game takes a unique spin on character movement by having the main protagonist move like a ballerina. The result is a gorgeous flow of spins, rolls and acrobatic jumps to maneuver her in this haphazard world.

2064: Read Only Memories by MidBoss – August 16th

The hit point and click game 2064: Read Only Memories, tells the story of a journalist trying to find their missing friend in Neo San Francisco. The remastered version for the PlayStation 4 and the PS Vita will be getting a fully voice acted script, new and revamped puzzles. As well as a deeper story and new expressive animations. 2064: Read Only Memories was praised for having a cast of diverse characters with varied gender identities, expressions and sexualities.

Grow Up by Ubisoft Reflections – August 16th

There’s a sequel to the delightful 3D platformer Grow Home, and it’s called Grow Up. It features the same blocky robot character as the first one, and it looks just as pretty. The game will feature the return of Grow Home‘s protagonist, B.U.D. Now without the help of his AI protector, M.O.M. It will take place across an entire planet. “Not only can you ride the giant star plants, but you can throw down seeds and use plants to bounce, shoot, and catapult yourself to new heights. All the way to the moon.”

Deus Ex:Mankind Divided by Eidos Montreal, Nixxes Software BV – August 23rd

The Square Enix stealth action-adventure continues the story of Adam Jensen and his role in combatting the rise of global terrorism in the aftermath of the events in the previous game, Human Revolution. You’ll once again take control of the augmented super agent Adam Jensen, who’s trying to confront the sinister superpower pulling the strings behind everything. The King of Fighters XIV by SNK, Deep Silver, Atlus USA – August 23rd

The King of Fighters XIV is an upcoming fighting game in The King of Fighters series. In the world of KOF the King of Fighters tournaments has become a major business. Generating huge profits and numerous spin-off tournaments worldwide. One day, a billionaire claiming to be the “first champion” bought out all of the rights for the KOF Tournament. The announcement of a new KOF Tournament by the self-proclaimed champion created unprecedented enthusiasm around the world. From there, this excitement reached many of the classic participants of the legendary tournament directly in the form of an official invitation.

World of Warcraft: Legion by Blizzard Entertainment – August 30th

Get ready for waves of hellish beasts, demon hunters and new quests in World of Warcraft’s sixth expansion Legion. We realize this is just an expansion to the popular game, but ignoring World of Warcraft: Legion would be a grave mistake. There are a lot of changes coming with Legion, check out the full list of changes and new content here. It’s quite a substantial update, and we’re hoping it brings more players back to WoW.
