Kojima Productions Unmask Mascot Ludens
I have the feeling that Hideo Kojima is trying to tell us something. The recent blitz of his character Ludens in the gaming world is quite telling, and just like all Hideo Kojima game reveals, it likely has a deeper meaning.
This new poster of Ludens shows off the face of the character released last month, with its eyes in more detail, revealing that there is a human under there and not just a skull as previously thought. Along with the new image comes a quote from Ludens, probably a warning : “I’ll keep coming”.
Kojima Productions commented on the quote saying “You can freely imagine whatever you see,” meaning it’s open to interpretation. Producer Kenichiro Imaizumi however was commented saying that “This is not a screenshot”. So he’s just a mascot. So while it stands to reason that the image is not taken from the game itself, the latest reveal re-opens the question as to whether or not Ludens will play a part in the studio’s upcoming PlayStation 4 and PC game.
Kojima recently stated that “When it is announced, you might think, ‘That’s not outstanding,’ but you’ll understand when you see it and play it. The genre is action.” He has teased that the game will likely appeal to fans of Uncharted 4 and The Division.
