What’s your favourite game genre? That’s a tricky question. Do you love games that challenge you strategically? Or do you prefer a more hero-based game? Maybe even just a good old card game? Well now you can have all the best game genres in one with ArmaGallant: Decks of Destiny.
Developed by Rock Nano Global from Singapore, ArmGallant takes on the task of combining a Real Time Strategy (RTS) with a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) map objectives with a Trading Card/Collecting Card (TCG/CCG) elements.
At first glance it looks like a standard MOBA akin to something resembling DOTA or League of Legends. But it’s the additional complexity of the RTS gameplay that really makes ArmGallant shine.
Players build a battle deck with over 100 spell and creature cards that act as real units and spells in the arena. Control armies of fantasy creatures and magical spells and go head-to-head in intense 1v1 or 2v2 multiplayer battles.
There are five different elements to play with, each with their own distinct strengths and play styles for your battle deck. Similar to other battle card games as Magic: The Gathering and Hearthstone, players can implement a heavy but costly brute strength army or summon small quick units to defeat their enemies. In this game timing is crucial and spells cast at the right time will turn the tide of battle.
Chong Lai Founder of Rock Nano said in a recent e27 interview “Some of us favour real-time strategy games like StarCraft; some enjoy multiplayer online battle arena genre. Others like card-based titles, we challenged ourselves to produce a battle arena game that would actively take inspiration from the best of these different genres. Something that everyone wants to play,”
Just between you and me, Rock Nano is also building an OSVR version. If you love the game now you’re definitely going to love it more when you see it in VR! I’m not too sure how much fun assembling your deck is going to be in VR but the in-game animations should be amazing.
ArmaGallant: Decks of Destiny will be launching worldwide in 2016 on the PSN as a PS4 exclusive on March 14th.
