Following the success of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which has sold more than 5 million copies rumours have surfaced that Konami is in talks to develop a new Metal Gear Solid game.
With all that has gone on with Konami and Hideo Kojima, it’s really hard to know how to feel about this rumor. Kojima, who is on vacation or has departed the company (haven’t figured out which yet), may mean that he would have zero to do with the next installment.
Seeing how Konami took Kojima’s name off The Phantom Pain’s box art, dissolved his studio Kojima Productions LA, and canned Silent Hills, it’s hard to see him staying on (though, who knows how this will all play out) Kojima has already said what seemed to be his goodbye to the series.
Although I’d much rather have Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain be the last installment in this storied franchise, than get a game with the title, but lacking in the Kojima magic.
Again, this is only a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt. Plus, it has been hard to figure out what the company is up to these days.
